We have always crafted our unique crank knobs from this beautiful, local material. But its strength and hardness has made it unfeasible to use for the iconic veneers on our grinders… until now!
Comandante is proud to release a LIMITED RUN OF C40 NITRO BLADE VINTAGE OAK Grinders in two categories: ‘ROYAL’ and ‘CLASSIC’. All handcrafted by our team at HQ in Munich, they boast the rich, deep hue of smoked oak — the knob and veneer in a perfect pairing. The rare ‘Royal’ grinders all carry veneers handpicked by Comandante founder Bernd Braune for their particularly remarkable grain.

With over 17% chromium and precisely balanced amounts of vanadium, molybdenum and other precious micro-alloys, this steel has been developed to offer exceptional corrosion resistance, hardness and wear resistance. Its complex remelting process ensures a fine, homogeneous matrix structure and a silver-white surface that is not only aesthetically impressive, but also makes coatings superfluous.
